Hey, I’m Gavin, a professional photographer here in the beautiful city of Charlotte, North Carolina. While I specialize in maternity, wedding, and engagement portraits, throughout the year, I also capture families and graduation photos! While studying Computer Software and Information Systems at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I fell in love with photography. Through numerous photography courses at the Light Factory, I quickly noticed my love for photographing a variety of subjects. I eventually found my passion for photographing wedding celebrations and expecting mothers and opened my first studio. Witnessing love in various stages allows me to create these heartfelt portraits and I feel truly blessed.

No matter the shoot, we’re going to have fun! At Gavin Boulware Photography, I truly believe that the best photos come from a place of comfort and enjoyable interactions. I know that being in front of a camera can feel a bit intimidating, but my goal is to make you feel at ease. Throughout your photo session, we may make some jokes, play some music, or even test out your acting skills for a few silly shots. The key is to keep things light-hearted and stress-free. Whether we’re shooting in a studio or on location, I like to start with a casual chat to get to know you better and help you settle in.

More than just a Charlotte photographer— a storyteller with a camera.
Born and raised in the vibrant city of Charlotte, North Carolina, Gavin developed a passion for capturing moments that tell a tale. His photography journey began in 2008 with a simple point-and-shoot camera, exploring the streets of his hometown and uncovering the narratives hidden within its diverse corners.
Today he specializes in capturing the authenticity of human connections, whether it’s the raw emotion in a candid portrait on your wedding day or capturing your unique journey into Motherhood. He believes that every photograph has a tale to tell, and it’s his mission is to unearth these narratives, offering viewers a glimpse into the rich tapestry of life.

CHARLOTTE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION THE LIGHT FACTORY CHARLOTTE, NC
BLACK GAZE was born in the midst of the pandemic in a chance meeting with Titus Brooks Heagins at TLF during a conversation about the lack of resources offered to emerging Black Charlotte photographers. Titus mentioned that he was at a point in his life that he wanted to “give back.” This sparked the beginning of a year-long project to mentor six emerging Black photographers to create new bodies of work that will be exhibited throughout Charlotte.
Titus and the other photographers will have community conversations starting in January at TLF in Plaza Midwood. The photographers include Cheryse Terry, Jessica Dunston, DaRemen J., Gavin Boulware, Cordrell Colbert, and Phillip Loken. Since August of 2021, these photographers have collaborated to not only create amazing images but also to become life-long friends.
